HYPNOTHERAPY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Hypntheraphy for you?

If you are suffering from stress, anxiety, habits such as smoking, overeating, drinking, nail-biting, chronic pain, insomnia, phobias, or trauma, public speaking, focus, and more hypnotherapy can help.

How can Hypnotherapy help me?

Hypnosis can help you gain control over behaviors you'd like to change. It may help you cope better with anxiety or pain. Although you're more open to suggestions during hypnosis, you don't lose control over your behavior during a hypnosis session.

Hypnotherapy enables receptivity. We were all born without programming and then learned conditions and rules. Habitual programs were developed through emotions and repetition, and surprisingly, there is always a positive intent underlying behaviors that may seem to come out of the blue. It is possible to work with the Subconscious in aligning the positive plan driving certain behaviors. Innate well-being, clarity, and improved health can be influenced within. What you think, feel, and do, even your sense of self, comes from the subconscious. During a ‘trance’ state, the rational, conscious, logical mind that only accounts for 5% of brain activity is bypassed for communication directly with the subconscious mind. 95% of all brain functions happen within the subconscious.

Where do we experience Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is more familiar and natural than you may have realized; we go into a light form of hypnosis every 60 seconds while processing information through our senses. It feels like a daydream state where we are highly suggestible. We also experience hypnosis at night when we are on the precipice of sleep as REM (rapid eye movement) starts and just before we awaken in the morning. It is a highly relaxing and enjoyable feeling.

Whenever we do something automatically without thinking about it consciously, we are in a light altered state, like tying shoe laces, driving a familiar route without noticing how we arrived at our destination, and simple tasks you don’t have to think about consciously. This way is beneficial in many respects, so we do not need to overthink all we do. On the other hand, if we repeatedly experience habitual patterns of low-level moods, unhelpful behaviors, or negative thoughts, then it’s time for a reset to lead yourself out of ‘stuckness’ and into a more resourceful natural way of being, and this is precisely where hypnotherapy is valuable.

Will I be ultimately out of consciousness during my session?

No. You are very much in control of your behavior and what you say. You will be aware of where you are during the session. It will feel like you are in two places at the same time.

Will I lose control of what I say or do during a session?

No. You will never act against your best interests or values. Even in such a relaxed state, you will never say or do anything that will leave you exposed or vulnerable. If your conscious mind is trying to control the situation, you might not be able to go into the relaxed, altered state to begin with, or you will interrupt the session. Before the hypnosis, we will spend two hours talking about your life, and there, you will have the opportunity to get to know me and trust me with that process.

Where will the session take place?

I'm offering online sessions via Zoom from the comfort of your home. Or, if you would prefer in-person hypnotherapy sessions, they can be scheduled in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Santa Clara, California, USA; or Sofia, Bulgaria. If you would like to book a session, please click here.

What if I can’t be hypnotized?

The only people that can’t be hypnotized are those who don’t want to be. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, so it’s really up to you. Everybody can do this, as it is a very natural state to be in. Here is a link to a live questionnaire to assess this for you on the IACT website.

How many Hypnotherapy sessions do I need?

Most people only need three sessions per issue.

Can I bring a relative or a friend with me to the Hypnotherapy session?

After your session, you must relax for a little bit but you can go back to work after.

Is hypnosis safe?

Yes! Hypnosis is completely safe. It’s a technique where you are always conscious and in control. A hypnosis session is more like a vivid daydream. Most people are unaware that they go into a self-hypnotic state throughout the day. Examples are watching TV or a movie, working on the computer, driving, reading a book, or daydreaming. All of those focused attentions are characterized as a state of trance. You can hear everything around you, but the sounds won’t bother you. They will be somewhere in the background.

Is it like the hypnosis I’ve seen on TV?

Not at all. The hypnosis you have likely seen on TV is stage hypnosis, where you have no self-control. With the hypnosis technique I use, you are in control and can do and say exactly what you want and feel

How will I get hypnotized?

Hypnosis is a safe and relaxing experience. You are always under your control and not mine. I use guided meditation techniques and induction to help you relax. Once your brain waves slow down enough, the connection with your higher self is made. You will feel like you are in a deep meditative state. You can speak freely. You will be brought back to your conscious state when the session ends.

English is my second language. Should I be worried that I default to my first language during my regression?

No. You don’t have to worry about your language because you will be aware and conscious. I had the same worry the first time I did a regression because I was born and raised in Bulgaria, and English is my third language. That was no issue at all.

What is the best way to prepare for the session?

Drink lots of water, eat healthy foods, don’t drink alcohol the night before, and don’t drink coffee in the morning. Have an open mind and don’t have any expectations. Here is more info on how to prepare.

Will I remember what happened in the session?

It depends. You will not be asleep. You will be conscious during the session. You might remember all of it or none of it. Most people remember what they have experienced, but it can fade quickly. Each session is unique. As long as you are relaxed, the session will go well. The session will be recorded so you can listen to it later and hear everything.

What happens after I get out of the hypnotic state?

We will talk about your experience.

What can I expect to feel after the session?

This varies widely from person to person. Most people feel relaxed. Some people feel tired. That’s normal because much information will be received to process.

What services do you offer?

Depending on the time of the year, I'm offering in-person and online hypnosis sessions in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Santa Clara, California, USA; or Sofia, Bulgaria. If you would like to book a session, please click here.

What to do back home?
